Hi all, Did a gig at The Royal Maritime Hotel in Portsmouth on Friday. Nice room. All done out in burgundy and nice stage set up if a bit low for the lights but no bother really. Played "The Venue" in Chichester on Saturday. I'm going to produce a video to go with this as it's such an awsome place to play. They have the biggest sound system (7.5 or for really big events: 12k) and it's like doing your own concert. Yes, the quality of the speaker system equipment is THAT good. I've got plans for this place in the near future but that's for later.I just couldn't help feeling bad for my client as they were having a fund raiser night for a school near me and although they were expecting a couple of hundred to turn up, I think they got about 30. Let this be a lesson to you all. If you're booking a party and inviting your friends and relatives; make sure you re-confirm them at least once if not twice as the event get's nearer.
I once did an 18th party for girl in Hove at around Christmas time and no one turned up at all! Actually that's not quite true. An unknown woman showed up, got really really drunk and had to be carted off in an ambulance I kid you not. My god I felt bad for the birthday girl. The poor young thing was distraught. Like I say, Re-confirm once twice, even three times and then if you're doing food, you're on a pretty safe bet if you provide for about half the number you're expecting as even then, that's probably the number that will turn up. It's a sad reflection on todays jaded society who would rather stay in and watch X factor than come out and have a really good time but I guess some of my collegues are at least partly to blame. How many times have you heard some one talking about an event they went to the other night and the DJ was crap...?
Well I have a simple answer for that one. Tell them the DJ will be exceptional at this party and if they don't turn up you'll never forgive them or talk to them again, so get up of their arse and get with the party. You're doing this for there own good because when they hear how damn good it was they'll want to kick them selves anyway. Then book me and relax. It's all taken care of.
